NOEL MCCALLA/606 GOSPEL GROUP W SPECIAL GUEST SARAH TEIBO
As this is a Festival we thought we would push the boat out and feature not just one but two great bands for this Sunday Lunch concert. Noel McCalla first came to prominence in the mid 80’s with the seminal Jazz/funk band Morrisey/Mullen and then, from the early 90’s, for more than 19 years, his searing, soulful vocals could be heard with the iconic Manfred Mann’s “Earth Band”. More recently he has moved away from his globe trotting exploits with Manfred to form several new bands of his own and today will be appearing with his 4-piece band featuring Andy Jones-guitar, Henry Thomas-bass and Nic France-drums. And then, following Noel's set we will be featuring our regular 10-piece 606 Gospel Group under the auspices of bass player/guitarist Andre Gabriel. 606GG have been performing at the Club now for almost 15 years, and in that time have built an impressive reputation. The choir is drawn from a pool of some of the finest gospel singers on the scene and have been featured as part of the London Jazz Festival as well as on BBC Radio 4 and BBC World Service Today they will be featuring the wonderful Gospel singer Sarah Teibo and given that in recent times Noel has also worked with 606GG, there's a good chance we may well see him joining in for a couple of songs as well!
