Alan Barnes/Brigitte Beraha/Barry Green 'Tea for 3'
The gig this evening features a fascinating collaboration between three highly respected musicians who have established their reputations in stylistically varied areas of the UK jazz scene. Nominated for Vocalist of the Year (Jazz FM Awards 2022), two Parliamentary Jazz Awards (2021 & 2022) and an Ivors Composer Award in 2021, vocalist and composer Brigitte Beraha is considered to be one of the leading singers of UK contemporary jazz. Barry Green (Bobby Watson, Charles McPherson, Richie Cole) is a wonderful modern jazz pianist whose fluent and melodic playing has, over the last 25 years, been heard regularly at the likes of Ronnie Scott’s & Pizza Express Dean Street as well as many times here at the Club. An iconic figure, sax and clarinet player Alan Barnes has, over a 45-year career, been the recipient of more than 30 British Jazz Awards and has twice been named BBC Jazz Musician of the Year. Tonight they bring to the Club music from their new album “Tea for 3”, due for release in January, which they describe as “exploring new music and jazz standards in a unique meeting of different styles and musical experiences”.
"Brigitte Beraha…a great musician" BBC Radio 3; “The one who really shone was pianist Barry Green…the keenest musical pleasure of the evening” Daily Telegraph; “Barnes…phenomenal” Masters of The Jazz Saxophone
As this is a new project, there is no video available at this time. But here are a few videos featuring Brigitte and Alan performing music of a similar style!
