Alex Garnett-'Songs for my Father: Remembering Willie'
“Alex Garnett…one of Great Britain’s most accomplished post bop musicians”
All About Jazz
Alex Garnett’s powerful, flowing, hard bop sax has been heard with some of Europe's leading bands and it is testament to his reputation that he is a regular headliner at Ronnie Scott’s. With performances in over 30 countries and work with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Van Morrison and Jools Holland, tonight he is appearing with his sextet featuring Steve Fishwick-trumpet & Brandon Allen-sax. The material this evening will be music associated with, and some written for, Alex’s father Willie, who was himself an impressive and characterful saxophonist and mainstay of the UK scene for more than 50 years. A good friend of the Club Willie passed away in October 2021 and we are proud to dedicate this gig to his memory.
