Alex Hitchcock's fluent, melodic and creative sax style has already made a significant impression on the UK jazz scene with performances at the likes of Love Supreme, the Barbican and Royal Albert Halls, international tours and appearances on BBC Radio 3 and Jazz FM. His recordings, including 2019's "All Good Things" as well as his latest 'AuB' on Edition Records (in partnership with Tom Barford) have seen him reach new heights of artistic and critical achievement. Crowned BBC Young Jazz Musician 2018, Jazz Newcomer of the Year in the 2019 Parliamentary Jazz Awards and Jazz FM’s Breakthrough Act of the Year 2020, saxophonist Xhosa Cole is a talent to be reckoned with. With a searing technique and a thoughtful approach to the music solidly based in the classic jazz canon, Xhosa is without doubt a rising star. Tonight these two great young players, along with their band, will be performing material especially arranged for this EFG London Jazz Festival gig featuring standards and originals from what they like to describe as the “John Coltrane Songbook”. This promises to be yet another unique Festival night at the 606 Club.
"Alex Hitchcock…a fantastic talent" Jazz FM; "Hitchcock…a sax virtuoso" Jazzwise; “Cole…one of the hottest properties in British jazz” Telegraph
