Andy Panayi Quartet
““Panayi seems to be a master of every variety of saxophone yet invented, with flute added for good measure””
The Observer
An exceptionally gifted jazz performer, composer and arranger the multi-Award-winning sax and flute player Andy Panayi is widely regarded as one of the finest musicians of his generation. Over a 30+ year career his beautiful, fluent and melodic playing has been heard with the likes of Shirley Bassey, Paul McCartney, Freddie Hubbard, Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Centre Jazz Orchestra, Joe Lovano, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Concert Orchestra. Andy will be joined by the Simon Woolf Trio, featuring Simon on piano along with Oli Hayhurst-bass & Mark Taylor-drums (by the way, Mark used to perform regularly at the old Club on King's Road, before moving to the US to work with Lew Tabackin, Monty Alexander, Mose Allison and the like). Andy is a consummate musician & it is with great pleasure that we welcome him back to the Club this evening.
