Arnie Somogyi ft. Gideon Tazelaar
A highly respected acoustic bass player on the UK scene Arnie Somogyi has performed at major Clubs and festivals worldwide, including work with the likes of the NY-based Mingus Big Band, Tom Jones, Charlie Watts and Amy Winehouse. He has been nominated for both BBC Radio and Parliamentary Jazz Awards and his music has been featured on radio, television and film as well as on four critically acclaimed albums as leader. A prodigious talent, Dutch saxophonist Gideon Tazelaar was admitted to the Amsterdam Conservatoire at the age of just 14. In 2017 he moved to New York where he studied at the Juilliard School of Music, and he now spends his time between Amsterdam and New York. Although still a relative newcomer his fluent and powerful playing has already been heard with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Eric Alexander and Dick Oatts. This special quartet, combining the talents of one of the UK’s top bassists with one of the rising stars of European jazz, will perform a mix of Duke Ellington compositions, jazz standards and originals. Also featuring Mark Edwards-piano & Matthew Holmes-drums.
