Carlo Muscat Quartet
From Malta, Carlo Muscat began his music studies on violin. But upon switching to saxophone and hearing jazz for the first time, he soon found his direction and established himself in the local music scene, ultimately leading to collaborations with artists from around the world. Influenced by iconic players such as Wayne Shorter and more contemporary stylists including Mark Turner, Carlo relocated to Paris in 2013, releasing his first album. Since then, has performed in numerous European cities, from Berlin to Milan, Istanbul & Rotterdam. His travels also took him to Ukraine, where in 2020 he recorded the album ‘Wool’, forging what proved to be a powerful, ongoing relationship with its jazz community that has continued ever since. At this 606 performance, you’ll hear music from Wool, along with an upcoming trio album recorded in Kyiv in March 2024 to be released later this year and some newer compositions as well. With a fantastic band (Gareth Williams-piano, Arnie Somogyi-bass & Clark Tracey-drums) to accompany him, it’s a delight to welcome this world-class jazz artist.
