Dave Douglas + Trish Clowes - MY IRIS
Two of the most creative and accomplished jazz musicians and composers in their respective countries, UK saxophonist Trish Clowes & her band ‘My Iris’ are joined by special guest, US trumpeter Dave Douglas for this special 606 performance. From New York City, Douglas’ many honours include the Doris Duke Artist Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, an Aaron Copland Award and two Grammy Award nominations, with over 60 recordings as leader to his name. The founder/head of his own label, Greenleaf Records (a home for not only his own but other improvised music), Douglas released Trish Clowes & My Iris’ 2022 album ‘A Room with a View’. A BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist & British Composer Award winner, Trish’s freewheeling style tips its hat to tradition while delivering driving grooves, lingering melodic lines and futuristic dreamscapes. Along with My Iris members Ross Stanley (piano/Hammond organ), Chris Montague (guitar) and Joel Barford (drums), the ensemble will showcase material by Douglas and Clowes, newly arranged and written for the occasion. This promises to be a spectacular night of contemporary jazz!
