Blues and Soul
Dave Lewis's robust and melodic tenor sax playing has been heard with a notable list of artists including John Martyn, Bryan Ferry, Joan Armatrading, John Mayall, Eric Clapton, The Blockheads and of course his own band, 1Up with whom he often appears at the Club. For this 606 show Dave has invited a truly gifted and impressive vocalist, Gina Foster, to be his special guest. Renowned as one of the most soulful session vocalists around, Gina has worked prolifically in jazz, R&B, groove, pop and dance music with the likes of Swing Out Sister, Eric Clapton and Sinead O’Connor. The rest of the band features 1Up regulars Robin Aspland-keys, Neville Malcolm-bass and Rod Youngs-drums. With a strong emphasis on groove, improvisation and spontaneous melodic interplay, this is a great gig.
