Coming on the heels of their highly successful 2019 album “O’Higgins & Luft Play Monk & Trane” & companion tour, two of the UK’s finest jazz musicians, saxophonist Dave O’Higgins & guitarist Rob Luft return with their latest album ‘Pluto’. With 24 albums as leader to his credit, saxophonist Dave O'Higgins' last recording, “That’s the Way to Live” (2021) received glowing reviews in the Observer, Jazzwise & BBC Magazine, while his 2017 release “It’s Always 9:30 in Zog” was nominated for two British Jazz Awards. Dave’s also worked with the likes of Cleo Laine and John Dankworth, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and Nancy Wilson. A BBC New Generation Jazz Artist, guitarist Rob Luft is also a Peter Whittingham and Kenny Wheeler Prize recipient. He won 2nd Prize in the 2016 Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition and since then, has been nominated for a plethora of awards, including “Breakthrough Act” (2018 Jazz FM Awards) and “Instrumentalist of the Year” in both the Parliamentary & Jazz FM Awards. The band this evening is equally remarkable, featuring Jim Watson (keyboards), Misha Mullov-Abbado (bass) & Billy Pod (drums). Showcasing material from the new album, described as “straight-ahead modern jazz in the African-American tradition, clearly coming from the Monk and Trane lineage, but not bound to emulating it”, the performance will also include Dave and Rob’s ‘classic’ repertoire.

“Some of the warmest, most heartfelt more-or-less-straight-ahead jazz you’ll hear anywhere” BBC Music Magazine *****; “O’Higgins…exceptional fluency...one of Britain’s finest musicians” Observer;  "[Rob Luft] …fizzing with vitality and stuffed full of quirky and original musical ideas” London Jazz News
