Denny Ilett
Denny Ilett is a versatile guitarist (and singer) who spent ‘many happy years’ playing at the 606 with Lillian Boutte, the vocalist and ‘New Orleans Musical Ambassador’ who was beloved at the Club. Now, Denny & fellow band members Andy Crowdy (bass) and Daisy Palmer (drums) along with the award-winning pianist Will Barry will perform an eclectic night of music in honour of their old boss! As well as his manifest skills as a jazz & blues musician, Denny embraces music in all forms, working with PeeWee Ellis and members of Goldfrapp, Portishead & Mannfred Mann to name just a few. He also leads the 16-piece Electric Lady Big Band (dedicated to the music of Jimi Hendrix) and has a soft spot for Frank Sinatra & Nat ‘King’ Cole. With this in mind, the programme this evening will include everything from blues, swing and funk mixed together with traditional jazz, Great American Songbook classics and a little smattering of bebop.
