Earl Okin - "Celebrating 60 Years in Music"
“Exceptional…an utter delight”
The Scotsman
Singer-songwriter, musician and comedian Earl Okin has been entertaining audiences worldwide with his unique brand of music and wit for six decades now. His repertoire of quirky humour, combined with first-rate playing of modern jazz and Bossa Nova compositions (the latter sung in faultless Portuguese which he learnt from several spells staying in Brazil) mark him out as a unique talent. His CV includes touring with Paul McCartney & Wings, performing at the Edinburgh Fringe 500 times and working alongside such jazz legends as Adelaide Hall, Benny Carter, Stéphane Grappelli, Barney Kessel and Dame Cleo Laine among others. An accomplished singer, pianist & guitarist also recognised for his ‘vocal trumpet’ solos, today Earl will be joined by bassist Paul Morgan and drummer Michele Drees. Earl even used to perform at the 606 when it was its original location on Kings Road so you can trust us – he’s an absolute treasure!
“relaxed and assured…his guitar and keyboard playing are a joy” The Times; “Exceptional…an utter delight” The Scotsman; “gently witty and beautifully timed in every sense” Guardian; “wonderfully engaging” London Jazz News
