Time Out
The Award winning singer Emilia Martensson first came to the attention of jazz listeners with her guest appearance on the MOBO Award-winning Kairos Quartet’s debut album, and her spellbinding vocals have been causing a stir ever since. In 2015 Emilia was chosen to participate in the "Take Five" Artist Programme and in 2016 received the Parliamentary Jazz Award for “Vocalist of the Year”, an accolade richly deserved and an affirmation of her enormous talent. Her gently expressive voice and highly personal compositions are firmly rooted within the folklore and countryside of her native southern Sweden, adding to the mystique and allure of a distinctive and truly original artist. Having just launched her latest album "Loredana" on the Babel label, this evening she tells us she will be revisiting material from her first two albums "...And So It Goes" and "Ana" featuring both her sensitive interpretative skills as well as her wonderful original writing and highlighting her beautiful, soaring vocals. Accompanying her this evening will be her collaborator from these albums Barry Green on piano along with Sam Lasserson-bass and Jon Scott-drums. Undoubtedly one of the finest singers of her generation.
