Freddie Benedict
Starting out as lead vocalist with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra Freddie Benedict has gone on to establish himself as one of the most talented singers of his generation. His soft, velvety, voice and melodic trumpet playing are reminiscent of the great Chet Baker, so it’s no surprise that he’s burst headlong onto the jazz scene! The programme tonight, performed with his quintet, will include his favourite standards from the Great American Songbook, Brazilian hits from Jobim and Djavan, all the way through to his impressive original material and his takes on modern classics.
“Freddie’s mastery of his vocal instrument…is unparalleled amongst his peers” Jon Smith (Swingle Singers)
