One of the most creative and striking performers working on the UK scene, Gwyneth’s remarkable voice is something quite special, bringing sophistication to her singer/songwriter material, and a wonderful “edge” to the occasional cover. Since her first CD “Bittersweet and Blue”, released 10 years ago, she has gone on to produce an immensely impressive series of CDs featuring her brilliant songs, last year gifting us with her sixth recording, “The Sea Cabinet”, which yet again garnered universal praise, being described as “wildly inventive...entirely a law unto itself” (The Metro). And not content with being one of the finest singer/songwriters in the country (really) she has also won two prestigious theatrical awards for her music, had them queuing around the block at the Rochester Jazz Festival in New York, written a song-cycle about the sea which debuted at the Aldeburgh Festival and composed and performed a specially commissioned soundtrack to the silent film “The Patsy”. Most recently she provided the music for "The A-Z of Mrs P" and last year alone saw “A Note to the New Government” commissioned by The London Sinfonietta and The Royal Philharmonic Society; two musical collaborations with artist Mel Brimfield, “The Palace that Joan Built” and “Henry and Barbara – the Musical”; a new theatrical Song Cycle "The Rhythm Method" and the release of her debut record production project, Frances Ruffelle's “I Say Ye-Ye’. And just to prove the point, this enormously talented vocalist includes the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, Kevin Costner and Michael Parkinson (and us!) among her fan base. Tonight Gwyneth tells us she will be premiering brand new material to feature on her forthcoming 7th album, "Letters I Haven't Written", alongside music from past projects and will not only be singing but playing mandolin, French horn and as she puts it "everything but the kitchen sink....and possibly the kitchen sink!". Accompanying her on this musical journey will be the intricate piano of Ned Cartwright, the creative bass of Sam Burgess and the sublime guitar playing of Al Cherry to add extra allure to an already special evening. Quite brilliant.
