Henry Spencer (Album Launch)
From Wiltshire, Henry Spencer is a Guildhall graduate and award-winning trumpeter and composer who has been rapidly rising in the ranks of UK musicians. His first album, ‘The Reasons Don’t Change’ for Whirlwind Recordings in 2017 generated reviews including ‘a contender for album of the year’, All About Jazz. For his 2022 follow up EP (‘The Survivor and The Descendant’) and his latest album ‘The Defector’ which he's launching tonight Henry has worked with the best the industry has to offer, from multiple Grammy-winner Dave Darlington in NY to producer Jon Kelly (Kate Bush, Paul McCartney). And, as a session player, Henry has performed and recorded with a diverse array of acts, from the London Jazz Orchestra and George Porter Jr (The Meters), to Samuel Jack and The Manor. Describing his style as “touching jazz, rock and minimalism” his band includes top virtuoso guitarist Ant Law (“a gamechanger” Guardian), along with Rob Brockway-piano, Jason Simpson-bass & Dave Ingamells-drums.
