Hungarian Music Xchange: Eva Bolba
Amongst the most popular straight ahead, swing, singers in Hungary the multi-Award-winning vocalist Eva Bolba has been impressing audiences in Hungary and beyond for more than 20 years. At the age of 12 she won the Composers’ Prize at the Tachikawa World Children Music Festival going on to tour Europe with the Gastoldi Chamber Choir before enrolling in the Jazz programme of the world-famous Ferenc Liszt Academy. From there she toured with the band Soul What performing in Australia, Hong Kong and China while at home, they won first prize in a ‘battle of the bands’ at the Aranytíz Kultúrház. Currently the singer with the immensely popular jazz vocal quartet the 4 Seasons, her joyous and inventive approach to jazz is both infectious and exciting. Tonight she will be appearing with a UK rhythm section featuring the brilliant pianist Tim Lapthorn.
