Hungarian Music XChange: Gina Kanizsa
Hungarian vocalist Gina Kanizsa is a gifted and versatile singer and songwriter with a remarkable CV. Working across a variety of musical genres, both popular and experimental, she achieved success with the a cappella group Jazzation, who competed in the 2013 Vokal Total A Cappella Competition in Austria, winning the grand prize in the jazz category, the Ward Swingle Award-the first of many accolades the group continues to receive! And, thanks to her acrobatic vocal gifts, Gina is the major exponent in Hungary of “vocalese” (adding lyrics to instrumental jazz pieces). For this 606 show she will be backed by a first-class UK band led by pianist Robin Aspland (Van Morrison, George Coleman, Georgie Fame), with bassist Steve Watts and drummer Mark Taylor. An exciting lineup and not to be missed!
