Jakub Klimiuk Quintet Photo 1

Describing his music as blending ‘melodic themes with experimental sonic escapades, merging scripted forms and improvised sections’, London-based guitarist & composer Jakub Klimiuk cites the iconic guitarist John Scofield as sparking his love of jazz. His Quintet that he leads tonight (Simeon May-saxophone/bass clarinet, Cody Moss-piano, Harry Pearce-upright bass & Jack Thomas-drums) met at the Guildhall School of Music, releasing their first EP in 2022 and now, following it up with their new album, ‘(un)balanced’. But though their compositions are solidly rooted in the jazz tradition, their sound is also fine-tuned between the US contemporary and European jazz scenes, with reflections of both. They have already performed at London’s major jazz venues as well as the EFG London Jazz Festival to very enthusiastic reviews and we are pleased to add the 606 to that list!

”His sound (…) gorgeous, fluid and shot through with an almost epic quality. Like all genuine virtuosos, Jakub never allows his technical skill to overwhelm the musicality..." UK Jazz News; "This is an impressive debut" Jazz Views; “startlingly accomplished newcomer electric guitarist Jakub Klimiuk" Marlbank.net
