James Pearson Trio 'Salutes Oscar Peterson'
James Pearson is probably best known for his association with Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, where he has been the house pianist and artistic director for over 14 years. His powerful, swinging playing has been heard in an astonishing variety of settings and his ‘musical portraits’ of pianists George Shearing, Erroll Garner and Dudley Moore, all of whom have influenced James’s own style, are legendary. Tonight James, along with his superb Trio of Sam Burgess, bass and Chris Higginbottom drums salutes the music of the extraordinary Canadian pianist Oscar Peterson. Showcasing Oscar’s classic arrangements along with music from his 1964 album “Canadiana Suite”, this promises to be a wonderful treat for jazz piano aficionados.
