Born in Slovakia, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jana Varga arrived in London after training and performing in France and the US. Her beautifully crafted, melodically-driven original compositions harken back to the glory days of the singer-songwriter (in the tradition of Janis Ian and James Taylor), while also reflecting her deep love of roots music, gospel and blues. Lately, Jana has been working and recording tracks for her upcoming debut album 'Foreigner Face' with legendary producer Fred Mollin (Jimmy Webb) and top UK players including guitarist Tony Remy (Sarah Jane Morris, Annie Lennox) and keyboardist Ross Stanley (Liane Carroll, Jim Mullen). And it’s a testament to the respect that she already enjoys that, along with the likes of Hamish Stuart, RB Funkestra and Sarah Jane Morris, she was invited to feature on the recently released “Both Sides Now”, a homage to Joni Mitchell. Performing this evening with her band, which also features guitarist Terry Lewis (Mamas Gun) and pianist Sam Watts (Judi Jackson), Jana’s talent is without question.
