A talented singer inspired by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Anita O'Day and Billie Holiday, Jo Harrop possesses a wonderfully clear, controlled and expressive voice. A rising star on the UK Jazz scene her latest album ‘The Heart Wants’ received glowing 4 and 5 star reviews in The Guardian and Jazzwise, and was called 2022's best jazz record by the Daily Express & the Mirror (while reaching number 2 in the US jazz charts). Frequently featured as Jo Whiley's 'infatuation' on her BBC Radio 2 show, Jo's music has also been played by Iggy Pop on his Radio 6 programme and heard on Jazz FM, BBC Radio London & more. Her CV includes appearances at the likes of the Jazz Cafe, Royal Albert Hall, the Sage Gateshead and Pizza Express. For this 606 performance, Jo has chosen songs that will "evoke the spirit of summertime...from Gershwin and Porter, to Legrand & Mancini". She will be accompanied by a fantastic band, including the award-winning saxophonist Tony Kofi, trumpeter Andy Davies, pianist Sam Watts and drummer Peter Adam Hill.
