Jo Harrop & Paul Edis - Autumn Serenade: When Autumn Turns To Winter
A talented singer inspired by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Anita O'Day and Billie Holiday, Jo Harrop is a rising star on the UK Jazz scene! Her latest album ‘The Heart Wants’ received glowing 4 and 5 star reviews in The Guardian and Jazzwise, and was called 2022's best jazz record by the Daily Express & the Mirror (while reaching number 2 in the US jazz charts). Frequently featured as Jo Whiley's 'infatuation' on her BBC Radio 2 show, her music has also been heard on Jazz FM, BBC Radio London, Radio 6 & more. For this special EFG London Jazz Fest performance, Jo, pianist/Musical Director Paul Edis and their band present a programme based upon their 2023 Parliamentary Jazz Award-winning Jazz Album of the Year – “When Winter Turns to Spring”. Further exploring the often written about connection between the seasons and our emotions, this varied set will consist of well-known standards, alongside original melodic music including beautiful Bossa novas, lilting waltzes and hard swinging jazz.
