Joe Webb
Originally from Wales, pianist Joe Webb is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with on the UK jazz scene. Now resident in London, he’s worked with Hailey Tuck, Rob Luft, Fraser and the Alibis and more. But it is as a member of the Kansas Smitty’s House Band, the hip, mainstream jazz outfit dubbed London’s ‘new swing princes’ that his profile has ascended to even greater heights (including appearing with fellow Smitty’s on Jamie Cullum’s recent Christmas album). Joe’s swinging band this evening features the superb Alec Harper (also part of the Smitty's family) on sax, with Will Sach-bass and Steve Brown-drums.
“ [Webb]…a dazzling display of virtuoso pianistics, combining rhythmic sophistication and complexity with a dazzling variety of piano styles.” The JazzMann: "Joe Webb, a young virtuoso who’s playing has been causing proverbial jaws to drop for a while now" London Jazz; “Harper…a leading contender among the heavies” BeBop Spoken Here
