John Altman
Film composer, arranger, conductor and saxophonist John Altman has had a truly remarkable career. His many awards including a BAFTA, Emmy and Golden Globe, with a body of work including scores for films such as Monty Python’s ‘Life of Brian’, Bond films ‘Goldeneye’ and ‘No Time to Die’ and others of this calibre. His notable arrangements have appeared on 19 platinum albums, including George Michael’s ‘Faith’, while writing music for the likes of Simple Minds, Tina Turner & Tom Jones. But his jazz bona fides are equally impressive, playing with Chet Baker, Slim Gaillard, Quincy Jones, Bud Freeman and more as well as leading his own big band in the UK and abroad. We are delighted to welcome John for an evening of his favourite standards from the straight ahead jazz canon, accompanied by a standout band – pianist Andrew McCormack, bassist Flo Moore and drummer Chris Higginbottom.
