John Crawford
“With pianist John Crawford on hand, there is so much style and imagination”
Jazz Review
John Crawford is one of the finest Latin/Jazz pianists on the scene, whose unerring musicality and impressive technique have taken him all over the world. He includes work with the likes of Latin legends Airto Moreira, Giovanni Hidalgo, and Eumir Deodato as well as UK based artists such as Snowboy, Roberto Pla and Viramundo on a glittering CV. And just to prove his versatility he is also one of this country’s leading exponents of Spanish music, and his set tonight will include his remarkable arrangements for piano of some classic Flamenco pieces. The band features Uruguayan guitarist Guille Hill, bassist Alec Dankworth, Spanish percussionist Andres Ticino, drummer Simon Pearson and Special Guests, vocalist Eleonora Claps & cellist Shirley Smart, whose extensive credits include work with Avishai Cohen, Antonio Forcione and Alice Zawadzki among other high profile projects. These highly impressive players will also be showcasing songs from their forthcoming new album, which if the past is anything to go by will be a real treat.
