Originally a classical pianist, John formed his first Jazz group “Atlas” in 1986. Since then he has become known as one of Europe’s most creative jazz pianist/composers, working with the likes of Tim Garland, Evan Parker and Andy Sheppard and, to date, has appeared at over fifty different festivals worldwide and produced in excess of 25 albums. John is widely regarded as one of the most gifted jazz pianists of his generation. Tonight he is bringing his quartet "Re-Creations" to the Club with Parliamentary Jazz Award Winner Sam Crockatt-sax, Henrik Jensen-bass and Alex Goodyear-drums. After three brilliant recordings and tours throughout the UK and mainland Europe they will be presenting music from their latest album “Many Moons”. The programme is summed up neatly by John: “The idea is simple: we take some of the best-known tunes from all genres - jazz, pop, indie, rock, folk, classical - and re-create them, finding new arrangements and new angles to present them”.
