From the North of England and a graduate of Leeds College of Music, Kate Peters is a versatile singer, songwriter and arranger working across a number of genres from jazz to pop to musical theatre, including leading her own Big Band. She has toured and recorded with artists such as Candi Staton, Jaki Graham, Roachford, Katrina Leskanich (Katrina and the Waves) and Angie Brown, made appearances on national and international radio as well as national TV programmes including 'Heartbeat', 'The Royal' and 'The One Show' and also written scores and arrangements for other bands and singers. For this 606 performance however, Kate and her swinging quintet, featuring guitarist Sam Dunn, pianist Rob Barron, bassist Stu Barker and drummer Steve Brown will present an evening of their favourite standards “recalling the music of Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass”. The classic jazz duo of singer Fitzgerald and guitarist Pass is one of the best known (and loved) in jazz history and Kate’s exquisite tone and gift for nuance, coupled with guitarist Dunn’s delicacy and control, makes for a satisfying revival. Beautiful ballads and swing tunes from the Great American Songbook performed with affection and aplomb.
