“Mixes witty melodies with tough swing and nasty funk”
Time Out London
Well, this is a truly international quintet featuring a combination of some of the finest expat musicians in both the UK and Europe. A regular at the Club over many years, New Zealand born saxophonist Greg Heath's powerful and fluent playing has been heard with a wide range of jazz and popular musicians, including Dr John, Jimmy Cliff, Omar Hakim, Rachael Z, Nile Rogers, Mica Paris, Maceo Parker, Van Morrison and Joan Armatrading. Perhaps best known at the Club for his work with singer Chantelle Duncan, tonight he is appearing with the impressive Boom Quintet, which also features Robert Castelli (US)-drums, Nic Meier (Switzerland/UK: Jeff Beck)-guitar, Davide Mantovani (Italy: Lisa Stansfield)-bass and Gilles Estoppey (Switzerland)-piano. The Boom Quintet is very much an All-Star band performing exhilarating original music, bringing New York street funk, Latin, Brazilian, African and Eastern music together in a truly original way. This is a rare chance to hear this unique, world class, band in the UK and highly recommended.
