Lunchtime Special: Anjali Perin
An exciting singer with impressive technique and rich tone, Anjali Perin is a pleasure to hear. After studying both classical piano and violin as a child, she pursued a career in law but her love of performing and composing won out. Graduating from the Guildhall with a Master’s in Jazz Performance, she’s played at London’s premier venues including Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Dean Street and the Royal Festival Hall, as well as Festivals here and abroad such as Love Supreme and Montreux. Using her voice as an instrument and improvising effortlessly with the ease of any horn player, Anjali & her swinging quartet will perform material associated with the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Betty Carter and Carmen McRae, along with her own vocalese arrangements of her favourite bebop solos. Her band features renowned pianist & educator Simon Purcell, Nick Pini (Trio Manouche, Laura Marling), bass and Emiliano Caroselli (Marco Marconi, Irene Serra), drums.
