Madeline Bell & Ian Shaw
An evening of conversation and song with two unique, world-class artists: the legendary vocalist, Madeline Bell alongside one of her long-time collaborators, the award-winning broadcaster, raconteur, pianist oh, and one of Europe’s finest male jazz singers, Ian Shaw! Though born in New Jersey, Madeline achieved huge success as a session vocalist here in the UK, first working with the likes of Tom Jones, Joe Cocker, Elton John and most notably, Dusty Springfield. Subsequently, Madeline became a star in her own right as the voice of the band Blue Mink (“Melting Pot”, “Good Morning Freedom”), with 7 Top-10 singles. Ian was named Best Vocalist of the Year twice(!) at the BBC Jazz Awards and was the 2018 Parliamentary Jazz Awards' "Vocalist of The Year" - a huge talent with the most engaging personality and an ability to make every song his own. These two old friends will sing jazz, soul and pop-tinged favourites - expect Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Nat King Cole – from Madeline’s illustrious seven-decade career, as well as telling musical and showbiz stories in their own inimitable style. An absolute delight!
