Marco Marconi Trio featuring Mark Wade
A native Italian from Umbria, Marco Marconi initially studied classical piano before moving on to study Jazz at the Music Conservatory of Perugia. After establishing himself as one of Italy's leading jazz pianists, his subsequent highly successful appearances at the Cheltenham Jazz and Lancaster Music Festivals prompted his decision to move to the UK permanently in 2012. Marco was signed to the iconic UK label 33Jazz, which released three albums, "Nordik" (2016), "Trialogue" (2018) & "New Roads" (2019), all to critical acclaim, while his dynamic live shows have also made him an audience favourite! For the gig this evening Marco has invited the terrific American bass player Mark Wade to be his special guest. A five-time finalist for Bassist of the Year in the prestigious Downbeat Magazine Reader’s Poll, Mark has been performing in the New York City area for over 20 years. As bandleader, he’s released four albums including his latest, ‘True Stories’ ("a living work of modern art”, Downbeat) and as sideman, he includes work with the likes of Jimmy Heath, Eddie Palmieri and Don Byron on an impressive cv. UK Vibe says Mark is “one of the preeminent musicians of his generation”, so don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear him, along with Marco & UK drummer Matt Fishwick as they explore the art of the jazz trio setting.
