Marta Capponi
“Capponi...knocked out the crowd...easy to see why she is making waves”
LondonJazz News
Italian-born jazz vocalist Marta Capponi began her jazz studies in Rome and by the time she left college was already well known on the Italian jazz scene. However, looking for musical challenges further afield, in 2012 Marta moved to London, bringing with her an eclectic and remarkable repertoire, from classic jazz standards and pop to folk and Brazilian music. She was soon immersed in the London scene as both a performer and teacher, working with the likes of Femi Temowo & Robin Banerjee (Amy Winehouse), Ernesto Simpson (Richard Bona), Luca Boscagin (John Abercrombie) and Adriano Adewale and Antonio Forcione (Sarah Jane Morris). Her singing is fluent, powerful and captivating, and she has a stage presence to match - she has so impressed those of us here that she has been asked to sing with the "house" band Samara on several occasions. Accompanying Marta this evening is the equally impressive Jo Caleb-guitar, Dario Di Lecce-bass and Emiliano Caroselli-drums.
