Melissa James/Arthur Lea
“Melissa’s vocals are sensitive, soulful and emotional...”
Maverick
Described as "the best current British blues singer I know" by BBC 6 Music's Tom Robinson, Melissa James is also a highly regarded songwriter, whose latest self-penned album ‘Stripped Back’ was received with considerable acclaim. Best known here at the Club as the singer/pianist with the ever-popular Coalminers, Arthur Lea combines eclectic rhythm and blues with southern soul. He has played everywhere, from Ronnie Scott’s to the Olympic Stadium, working with the likes of Kate Tempest to Kylie Minogue. Melissa and Arthur have performed together for some years, and tonight, along their quartet, they will duet on a host of their favourite songs. From jazz and blues standards to more contemporary popular tunes (and a few originals), the pair offer their heartfelt interpretations in this uniquely crafted show.
“Melissa’s vocals are sensitive, soulful and emotional” Maverick; “Like the blues legends he admires, Arthur Lea is…a great singer and songwriter” Evening Standard
