Mina Agossi - Album Launch
“Mina Agossi…exquisite… her fluid voice full of jazz spirit”
Le Monde
Born in France in 1972 to French and West African parents, singer & composer Mina Agossi is a captivating performer with a unique style and delivery. She first came to attention in 1995 when she co-produced an album of original tunes entitled “Voice & Bass”, using no wind, brass or keyboard instruments. After working with the likes of iconic US saxophonist Archie Shepp and pianist Ahmad Jamal, in 2001 she produced her first live album, “E-Z Pass to Brooklyn”, eponymously incorporating elements of hip hop, world music, blues and rock. Named ‘Best Newcomer’ at the 2005 Adami Awards, Mina subsequently appeared at numerous festivals and clubs around the world. No stranger to the 606, we are so pleased to welcome Mina back with music from her latest project AGE7, who are launching their album 'Lonely Whales' this evening. An intriguing mix of trip hop, rock & electro-jazz, the group features Marc Charriere (Peter Gabriel) on keyboards & electronics and Mina’s longtime creative collaborator Eric Jacot on bass. Mina is truly one-of-a-kind.
