Musician's XChange Programme: Orsi Urban
Orsi Urbán is one of the best-known jazz singers on the scene in her native Hungary. With her immediately recognisable, captivating big voice she has worked with many different groups, including Louis Armstrong’s one time partner, Joe Murányi and the Budapest Jazz Orchestra. A graduate of the world-famous Franz Liszt Academy of Music, she has since joined their faculty as well as teaching at the equally prestigious Béla Bartók School of Music. Orsi’s 2012 album, “Mindig Játék” (Always A Game) was nominated for the Fonogram Prize, while its follow up, “I Know You Love Me”, the duo album with pianist Richárd Révész was a runaway success. She has toured Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Turkey, Serbia and Finland and we are glad to add the UK to that list. Also featuring Tim Lapthorn-piano, Alec Dankworth-bass & Shane Forbes-drums.
