Nye Banfield
An exciting and creative saxophonist, Nye Banfield is starting to make a real impression on the UK Jazz scene since graduating from Trinity Laban. Combining his influences from jazz icons Wayne Shorter, Ambrose Akinmusire and mentor Mark Lockheart (Wed 7th) with a love for classical music, during the events of 2020-21 Nye used the time to compose an album’s worth of fresh material, consequently recording it with his sextet (to be released in early 2024). Tonight, alongside upcoming young trumpeter Josh Short and a really impressive rhythm section of brothers Robbie and Ewan Moore on piano and drums and Hamish Nockles-Moore on bass the band will be performing material from that album in what Nye describes as “an audio-feast of fluid improvisation, rich composition and earth moving grooves”. Now that you can’t miss!
