Richard Fairhurst Quintet: The Music of Wayne Shorter
Considered to be one of the finest pianists of his generation, the multi-Award-winning Richard Fairhurst is a Steinway International Artist (since 1998), BBC Jazz Award winner, recipient of the Pat Smythe award for musicians of outstanding talent and the BBC Jazz Award for Best New Work. Tonight he will be bringing in a show featuring saxophonist George Crowley and trumpeter Chris Batchelor that celebrates the music of the great American jazz saxophonist/composer Wayne Shorter. A legend in jazz history Shorter was the co-founder of the iconic jazz fusion group Weather Report. However, this performance focuses on the music he created throughout the 1960’s with the Miles Davis’ Quintet and on his own, now classic, recordings for the Blue Note Label.
