Rob Luft Quartet
Guitarist Rob Luft is both a Peter Whittingham and Kenny Wheeler Prize recipient who ranked second the 2016 Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition. His debut album, ‘Riser’, released on Edition Records in 2017, was received with widespread critical acclaim and was the springboard for a string of award nominations – “Breakthrough Act”, 2018 Jazz FM Awards, “Instrumentalist of the Year”, 2018 Parliamentary Jazz Awards and “Instrumentalist of the Year”, 2019 Jazz FM Awards. In 2019, Rob was selected as a BBC New Generation Jazz Artist, an accolade granted to “some of the world’s most exceptional young musicians” (BBC Radio 3). He’s also worked with Elina Duni, John Surman, Django Bates, Manu Katché, Dave O’Higgins and more.
This 606 performance will preview the music from Rob’s latest album, ‘Dahab Days’ to be released on Edition in October 2023, and will feature saxophonist George Crowley, bassist Mirko Scarcia and drummer Jay Davis. A truly world-class player we hold Rob in the highest regard here at the Club!
