Roland Perrin's Blue Planet Orchestra Photo 1

“Assured compositions and sublime arrangements…..refreshingly unpretentious”

Straight No Chaser

Equally schooled in Latin, African, Brazilian and jazz music, musician, composer & educator Roland Perrin’s many impressive achievements include the full-length opera for choir and jazz band "Lansky" which was received with significant acclaim, and the 300 strong choral, jazz/Brazilian tour de force "Rio Amazonas", which had its Barbican premiere in 2018. Tonight, as Roland puts it, “expect a kaleidoscope of world music grooves filtered through a satisfying mix of jazz freedom and compositional narrative”, which will be expressed with both original material, as well as surprising re-workings of classic repertoire including “Charlie Parker in New Orleans style, Schubert in Jamaica and the Beatles in an Afro-Cuban mood”! Joining Roland will be his Blue Planet Orchestra, comprised of London’s most accomplished musicians: Jeremy Shoham-sax/clarinet, Bob McKay-sax/flute, Paul Taylor-trombone, Emmanuel Oladokun-bass and Paul Cavacuiti-drums. A fascinating and engaging musical journey!

"Perrin [has] a unique musical voice that merits wide recognition" LondonJazz News; “An excellent…pianist and gifted writer…clever...bright and witty…terrific” Jazz Review
