Samara ft. Liliana Chachian & Special Guest Paul Booth
“Samara” is a five-piece jazz/Latin group led by 606 Club owner Steve Rubie that has proven to be one of the Club’s most popular bands since their formation over 20 years ago. The pianist Neil Angilley works with Vanessa Mae and Snowboy, Dill Katz, the bass player, is visiting professor at the Guildhall, drummer Nic France includes Dave Gilmore (Pink Floyd) and Bill Withers on a stunning cv and singer Liliana Chachian is considered to be one of the finest Brazilian singers in Europe. The music is an infectious blend of Brazilian samba, Jazz & Latin and everyone has a great time. Our special guest this evening is the multi-award winning UK saxophonist and 606 regular Paul Booth, who includes work with the likes of Steve Winwood, Jacqui Dankworth, Geoff Keezer, Eddie Henderson, Larry Coryell, Dave Liebman and Stan Tracey, as well as his own acclaimed Bansangu Orchestra. Described as having "…a deep understanding of the musical roots of jazz, interpreting ballads with enormous skill and sensitivity, and improvising fluently and inventively" (All Music), Paul's vast experience as a musician, songwriter and producer as well as his stylistic range make him a standout choice.
