Sophie Alloway
The Club is opening at 12 noon and the music will begin at 1pm today.
Drummer Sophie Alloway has been the musician of choice for a wide variety of high-profile artists for some years now. With appearances for the likes of Later With Jools Holland, the Mercury Music Prize, Glastonbury Festival and most recently King Charles III, her featured tracks on ‘Abbey Road Masters: The Drum Sessions’ have been used on radio and TV across the world. This afternoon is particularly special as Sophie will be celebrating her birthday, and has put together an outstanding show featuring a number of impressive players she's worked with through the years. Beginning with a performance by Mornington Lockett-sax, Paul Stacey-guitar, Will Barry-piano, Laurence Cottle-bass and Sophie on drums, renowned West End pianist Joe Thompson (who has played for guests including Elizabeth II, Dame Judi Dench and Burt Bacharach) will then join for a few songs with Laurence and Sophie. Finally, the Lydian Collective Trio (Aaron Wheeler-piano, Ida Hollis-bass & Sophie-drums) will close out the afternoon with a short set. Sophie is a long-standing friend of the Club and this promises to be a lively and entertaining gig.
