“…superbly played, dynamically arranged, fully engaging jazz-funk compositions”
Jazz Journal
ANDREW SMALL is a highly regarded drummer, musical director and producer who has spent ten years performing live with British chart-toppers Massive Attack, and has toured with the likes of Courtney Pine, Moloko, Des’ree, Euge Groove, Steve Cole, Gerald Albright, Chuck Loeb, and Swing Out Sister. His work as a musical director includes lengthy spells for high profile artists including Kylie Minogue, and the classical crossover group Il Divo, but Andrew is probably best known at the Club as the powerhouse drummer with the band 'All Fired Up', who perform here regularly celebrating the music of Earth Wind and Fire. Tonight Andrew will be showcasing new tracks from his upcoming album ‘Monday Roast’, to be performed alongside tunes from his debut album ‘What Happens Now?’, which Jazz Journal has described as “…superbly played, dynamically arranged, fully engaging jazz-funk compositions”. The evening will be made up of completely original material, inspired by afro-Cuban sounds, gospel, jazz, soul and funk. Joining him for this special 606 performance will be four of the UK session scene's finest musicians: Orefo Orakwue (bass), Ant Law (guitar), Phil Merriman (keyboards) and Patrick Clahar (sax)... and watch out for Andrew's special guest vocalist.
