The Harvey/O'Higgins Project
“A stunning player in the neo-bop vein, with an apparently effortless flow of coherent ideas, beautiful time and a highly developed harmonic sense”
Jazz Guide
The Harvey/O’Higgins Project is the latest venture from two of the UK’s most prestigious jazz musicians, pianist Graham Harvey (Stacey Kent) and saxophonist Dave O’Higgins, featuring long-time collaborator Josh Morrison-drums and for this 606 show, the highly-regarded young Hungarian bassist, Matyas Hofecker (Harold Mabern, Sheila Jordan). Dave & Graham have known each other for many years and have often worked together in various groups, including Matt Bianco’s 2017 album release 'Gravity' and the 40-date tour of the critically acclaimed album 'It’s always 9.30 in Zog' with the Dave O’Higgins Quartet. This evening's performance will showcase music from their latest album 'That's the Way to Live!' on Ubuntu Music. Rooted in the 'post-bop idiom', Graham says that it “embodies the aesthetic of harmonic integrity ('making the changes') coupled with rhythmic coherence ('being in the pocket')”. Promises to be a swinging night!
