Tristan Banks Quartet
“A triumphant piece of work”
Blues & Soul Magazine
A versatile, world-class drummer and percussionist, Tristan Banks has worked with an impressive variety of high-profile artists from Roy Ayers and Steve Winwood to David Gilmour, Beverley Knight and Snowboy over a 30-year career. His CV boasts performances at prestige venues including the Royal Festival and Royal Albert Halls, Blue Note (Tokyo) & New York City’s Central Park, as well as WOMAD, Glastonbury and the North Sea Jazz Festival. The music this evening will be from Tristan’s long-awaited, recentlly released debut album, ‘View from Above’ (Ubuntu Music). With elements of jazz, fusion and Latin music styles, it offers “a unique combination of high-octane virtuosic performance and sublimely melodic composition.” Featured on the record alongside Tristan are three superb musicians all well known here at the Club, sax and woodwind player Paul Booth (Steve Winwood, Steely Dan), pianist John Crawford (Airto Moreira, Giovanni Hidalgo) & bassist Davide Mantovani (Neil Angilley, Baaba Maal, Seckou Keita). This promises to be an exciting show from a top-calibre quartet.
