A talented singer inspired by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Anita O'Day and Billie Holiday, Jo Harrop performs with a wonderfully clear, controlled and expressive voice. A rising star on the UK Jazz scene her latest album ‘The Heart Wants’ received glowing 4 and 5 star reviews in The Guardian and Jazzwise, and was called 2022's best jazz record by the Daily Express & the Mirror (while reaching number 2 in the US jazz charts). Frequently featured as Jo Whiley's 'infatuation' on her BBC Radio 2 show, Jo's music has also been played by Iggy Pop on his Radio 6 programme and heard on Jazz FM, BBC Radio London & more. Her CV includes appearances at the likes of the Jazz Cafe, Royal Albert Hall, the Sage Gateshead and Pizza Express, making her a perfect choice for this unique Valentine's show! Performing a set of music Jo describes as “filled with some of the most beautiful songs ever written, with fresh arrangements of songs from Cole Porter, Rogers and Hart, Jule Styne & Gershwin through to Henry Mancini, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits & Randy Newman”, the band includes longtime members Paul Edis-piano, Jihad Darwish-bass & Pete Adam Hill-drums, along with special guest, Alex Hitchcock on sax. This promises to be a wonderful evening for anyone who likes their jazz hip, swinging and heartfelt!
