Polly Gibbons is one of the most respected and talked about singers of her generation. Since first hitting the UK jazz scene while still in her teens, Polly has developed into a consummate performer with a sultry, distinctive style, as much at home singing tender jazz ballads as she is performing rockin' R&B classics. Nominated Vocalist of the Year by Jazz FM, she has also firmly established herself in the US, performing at prestige venues including Birdland in NYC and releasing three albums with American label Resonance Records. In addition, in 2022 Polly fulfilled her long-standing ambition to record an album of all original songs. Titled “As It Is”, it's written, arranged and produced by Polly and co-produced by musical collaborator and artistic director at Ronnie Scott’s, James Pearson (also featured in the band this evening). To set the mood for this special Valentine's night performance, Polly will be featuring 'loveable classics' by Nina Simone, Ray Charles, Randy Crawford and Aretha Franklin, along with the odd lament. A very old friend (Polly performed her first London gig here, back in the day) it’s with great pleasure that we welcome this remarkable singer back to the 606.
