Co-led by keyboardist Theo Howarth and drummer Ajit Gill, Vertaal have been a notable presence in the UK over the last couple of years. Tipped as “ones to watch for 2019” by Jazz Re:freshed and for 2021 by BBC Introducing, Vertaal have performed sold out shows at numerous prestigious venues around London. Performing tracks from their recent release “Paradigm Shifting” the music is a contemporary mix of nu-jazz, Dilla-inspired hip-hop and neo-soul with a good helping of jazz improvisation. Theo and Ajit will be joined this evening by Luca Gianassi-guitar & Harry Pearce-bass to produce a set that promises to be an exciting, highly musical, crossover between jazz and electronica.
